SB Humane Society
Since 1887, we have provided service to the people and animal populations of Santa Barbara County. Our original purpose of prevention, protection and education remains a priority of the Humane Society to this day. A leader in humane education, we adapt our programs to reflect progressive changes to animal welfare policies and to respond to the changing needs of the community.
We provide refuge to abused or neglected horses and domestic animals and uplift the lives of disadvantaged youth by providing a life-changing rehabilitation experience benefiting both. The Sanctuary also gently guides and rehabilitates animals that have come from abusive or neglectful situations.
Mastino Rescue, Inc.
Neapolitan Mastiffs have become more popular in the U.S. Along with their increased popularity, it has become quite common for them to end up in kill shelters, or in need to surrender situations. Mastino Rescue, Inc. is a nationwide, registered 501c3 non-profit organization, dedicated to rescuing and rehoming Neapolitan Mastiffs in need, throughout the USA.
Mia was born on June 26th, 2010 by c-section with a cleft palate, and was suggested to be euthanized. She was given a chance, and in return, touched so many people and saved many animals too. Mia was a miracle and an inspiration! She opened the eyes of veterinarians, breeders, and people that thought special needs babies weren’t worth the effort.
We continue our mission in her memory. If they are born, they deserve a chance.
We provide support to the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, and expand public interest in the heritage of the natural environment it represents. Support areas include volunteerism, programs, and financial support. All funds contributed remain at the Park and are expended under the authority of the Board of Directors. Without them and all their supporters, we would not have the wonderful Park that exists today.
Wings of Rescue
Wings of Rescue flies large-scale transports of at-risk shelter pets from disaster areas and overcrowded, often high-kill, shelters to shelters with empty kennel space and where no local shelters are displaced by the pets being flown in. In 2019, they flew 139 flights carrying 9,340 pets at total of 301,842 miles to safe communities where they available for adoption!
They stand by to fly emergency food and medical supplies to shelters who cannot receive supplies from normal channels.
